Google Translate Service Available Google Docs

Google Docs now offers “Translate document” tool to enable Doc users cross the language barrier. Users can send documents in a specific language to anyone and have it translated into teir preferred langugage by the receiver. Bhuvan Mapping Application from ISRO – bhuvan.nrsc.gov.in

ISRO unveiled beta version of “Bhuvan”, a web-based mapping tool like Google Earth (http://bhuvan.nrsc.gov.in/) Bhuvan promises to give better 3D satellite imagery of India than is currently being offered by Google Earth. Bhuvan has a many India-specific features like weather information, administrative boundaries of all states and districts, etc.. Bhuvan has best resolutions over the Indian sub-continent. It allows users to fly from space to street level, grab, spin and zoom down to any place. Viewers can zoom into Bhuvan maps up to 10 metres compared to Google Earth’s 200 metres and Wikemapia’s 50 metres. Read full story »

Google Patent for Ringback Advertising

A patent application called “Ringback Advertising” is assigned to Google, which seems to be Google’s plans to monetize Google Voice service by play ads while a call is dialing or placed on hold. It describes a system for delivering ads to any sort of phone system, including IP, cellular, or landline phones. The idea is to place software somewhere within the flow of telephony data that can identify when a given call is not active, then request audio ads for delivery during that time. Read full story »

Face Detection Feature in Orkut Photo Albums for Photo Tagging

Google launched face detection feature on all new photos uploaded to orkut. Orkut automatically detects faces appearing in the photos. You can now add tags to those detected faces, and make the photo tagging process much faster. When you start typing a friend’s name, the auto-fill feature suggests names from your friends list. Only your friends will be able to tag you in their photos. To keep your privacy, you can remove all tags if you would prefer not to be tagged in this manner. Read full story »
