Google has been forced to change Gmail to Googlemail in Britain after failing to secure the necessary trademark.
It seems Google lost the domain name to a UK company named Independent International Investment Research (IIIR). Google and IIIR have been negotiating to settle the dispute, but never reached an agreement.
Today onwards, British users who sign up for Gmail, would receive addresses ending in googlemail.com (or is it googlemail.co.uk?) rather than gmail.com.
