The Daily digital ‘newspaper’ for iPad will launch on February 2nd according to a report from reuters. This is a digital-only publication and available initially only in the United States, published by the News Corp. The News Corp is a global media company founded by Rupert Murdoch.
Reuters reported that News Corp’s James Murdoch said that it “should be launching in the next two weeks” at a press conference in Munich earlier this week.
The Daily will cost $0.99 per week. It will deliver US-focused news to a subscriber’s iPad every morning. The Daily has editorial offices in Los Angeles and New York.
Tablets such as Apple iPad and Samsung Galaxy Tab are expected to revive the magazine and newspaper business. Many newspapers are now experimenting with some form of payment to access online news as an additional revenue stream to advertising.
Newspaper online advertising in the U.S. represents only 11 percent of total newspaper advertising, according to the latest figures from the Newspaper Association of America.
