Jahshaka is a free, open source, cross-platform software that aims to become a video editing, effects, and compositing suite. It is currently in alpha stage, supporting realtime effects rendering. It is designed to be compiled for Windows, Mac OsX and many distributions of Linux . It is written in Qt and python so it’s very open and fully scriptable , but its user interface is written using an OpenGL library to create GUIs.
Jahshaka is a media management and playback, compositing, editing and effects tool that allows you to work with any file format in real time on your desktop. Just drag and drop your files into the Jahshaka. It is developed as an open source project under the GPL licence, and Jahshaka uses the open libraries as the underlying technology that gives it most of its features and functionality.

It can handle real-time image processing with node based effects editing in DV, SD, HD and film, real-time 3D compositing and Flash animation. There’s also a module for color correction, keying, tracking and an array of media support.
