File Splitter and Joiner is a tool which does exactly what its name suggests, dividing large files into smaller blocks, and rejoining them later so they’re ready for use. This can be very handy if you’ve a huge file which you’d like to back up to CD or DVD, say, but it won’t quite fit. It will quickly divide it into smaller sections of whatever size you like, and can restore these later to recreate the original file.

There’s no help with the program, but that really doesn’t matter, because it works exactly as you’d expect. So to divide a file, say, you select it, choose the size you’d like each chunk to be, specify a folder for the separate parts, and clicking Split will create the chunks for you.
And joining files becomes a simple matter of selecting the component parts, and the destination folder, before clicking “Join”. The only small extra is a “Checksum” tab, which calculates a checksum for the file you specify. If you’re saving split files to disc, say, this enables you to calculate a checksum for each chunk; if one of these becomes corrupted later then the checksum will tell you where the problem lies.
