Google eBooks – for Web, Android, eReaders and Web Offline Reading

Google launched a brand new online book store called the Google eBooks, which offers ebooks in a wide range of categories. The eBooks store is currently available only in US and by early 2011, the service is expected to be available for the international community.

Google eBooks service allows you to read your favorite books on your preferred device from any location. All you need is an internet connection on your compatible device. Compatible devices and applications include Android phones, iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch, web browsers and eReaders. The Complete list is available at Google website

Google eBooks collections include free books available in public domain and also licensed versions which you need to purchase for reading.

Reading eBooks in your device

All Google eBook files are stored in the cloud. Once you open a book in the web reader or with any other supported mobile reader apps, the book will get synchronized to your device and you can continue reading it in both online or offline mode.

Google claims to have digitized more than 15 million books from more than 100 countries in more than 400 languages. All these collections which are available in Google Books since 2004 will now be available in eBooks store also.

With the Google eBooks for Android application, Google eBooks can be accessed from compatible mobile devices running Android 2.1 (Eclair) or later. You need to download the free app to start reading over 3 million ebooks on the go. The Android app can store up to 16,000 ebooks on average (on 32GB micro SD). With the app, you can adjust text size and typeface. It supports night-reading mode, offline reading and Worry-free archive.
Google eBooks for the Web provides unlimited storage of ebooks, 2-page reading mode and search within book.

Google eBooks for iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch with iOS 3.0 or later. You can download the free app. It can store up to 8,000 titles on average (on 16GB model). it supports search within book, adjust text size and typeface, night-reading mode and Offline reading.

Google eBooks is compatible with any dedicated ebook reader that supports the Adobe eBook platform, including the Barnes & Noble Nook and Reader from Sony. More instructions are provided for transferring the Google eBooks to the readers.
