South Korea based multinational electronics produce manufacturer LG electronics launched world’s thinnest full HD LCD display for smartphones in an official event. The 1080p LCD display sized 5.2 ” is just 2.2 mm thick and has 2.3 mm bezel.
“Today’s introduction of the world’s slimmest full-HD LCD panel represents an exciting advancement for the high-end smartphone segment, and is possible due to our world-class expertise in IPS and touch technologies. LG Display will continue its commitment to developing products that maximize consumer value as well as opening new doors for the mobile and tablet PC industry,” says Dr. Byeong-Koo Kim, Vice President and Head of LG Display’s IT and Mobile Development Group.
The display features full HD 1920×1080 pixels screen resolution. Reports say that LG had used OGS [One Glass Solution] technology which usually comes with Corning Gorilla Glass with this display. According to the company, they have installed dual flexible printed circuits and optical clear resin between the display and touch film for better visibility under strong sunlight. According to the company, the display can manage with 535 nits of brightness.
Unconfirmed reports says that it’s highly likely that LG is using the same panel in its sooner-to-hit-market smartphone LG Optimus G2.
