Twitter has announced redesign to Twitter.com and TweetDeck, as well as its mobile apps and added new features to help widen its appeal. The new design will simplify the user experience.
Twitter also introduced three new buttons at the top of the page — Home, @Connect and #Discover. @Connect shows who has mentioned you and suggests some accounts you might want to follow. #Discover shows what’s trending and points you to notable stories and videos.
One major difference on the homepage is that tweets appear on the right side and take up less real estate than they used to.
Mobile apps for iPhone and Android have also been updated.
Jack Dorsey, chairman of Twitter said:
One main thrust of the redesign is making “Twitter more accessible for all 7 billion people on the planet. The company has made it “simpler not just for people already engaged but easier for new people to discover it and find value in it. It’s the best place to represent yourself on the Internet.”
