Now MEA have launched the ‘MEAIndia’ app for Android, which offers services like Passport, Visa, Consular assistance for people NRIs and a platform to ask questions to the external affairs minister.
The app was launched on Monday evening by Foreign Secretary Ranjan Mathai. The app will help users find out the nearest Indian mission or post for emergency consular assistance if required. It also helps users find out details of the Kailas Manasarovar Yatra and Haj Pilgrimage.
Users can download and watch pictures and documentaries on India, share and contribute their own pictures and suggestions. The app allows users to follow the prime minister on his visits abroad.
At present the app provides required info to apply for Indian passport & Visas, locate the nearest Passport Seva Kendra, download the requisite forms, calculate the fees and to track the application status. Online application for passports is on the way.
There are more than 120 Indian missions which can be followed using the app, which provides the details of latest travel and business advisories, while travelling abroad. The users can ask questions to EA minister and the top two voted questions will be answered by the minister himself every month.
The present version available at the Google play store is 1.0.4, and is available for Android v 2.2 and higher. The app can be downloaded from Google Play.
