The Northern Railway had launched the scheme on December 12 sending SMS to about 10 lakh people each day covering areas with high density of unmanned level crossings. The railways transmit four types of SMS currently. The messages are designed to bring about attitudinal changes. They either persuade people to change for the better or warn them of the consequences.
Railway Board has decided to extend the scheme to all railway zones, The Hindu reports. So, get ready to receive an SMS from the Railways in the mornings to give you a wake-up call cautioning you to be careful while taking a level crossing.
Currently, the railways are bearing a cost of 3.4 paisa per SMS and efforts are on to get the service provider to reduce the charge to one paisa with the offer that the target group will be expanded to include one crore people each day.
Rlys to launch SMS campaign to check mishaps at crossings.
Wastage of money paid by citizens by way of tax can be seen here. The above project has been launched to awaken people. Why not seek votes by above method. Because, the communication companies shall pay back commission.
I am registered with DO NOT DISTURB registry still receiving these messages. I have no concern with unmanned crossing but still getting disturbed. Those who live in such areas have no knowledge about such compaign.
There is no provision to stop these ridiculous message.
I would like to know the rates of above mobile and also I am eager to purchase these mobiles for my personal use.
