T-Mobile USA has completed its upgrade to High-Speed Packet Access (HSPA) 7.2 for its 3G network. HSPA 7.2 promises to deliver a maximum of 7.2 Mpbs. T-Mobile USA customers using 3G can now avail the HSPA 7.2 speed, with their HSPA 7.2 supported devices such as Nexus One. With the Government deciding to allocate spectrum for 3G mobile only by August 2010, some Indian operators are reviewing their strategy and looking at the possibility of leapfrogging straight to the 4G technology. It has taken three years for the Government to come to some finality on the 3G spectrum allocation policy. 4G technologies could face the same fate. Even if the Government allocates 3G spectrum by August 2010, operators will not be in a position to launch the services before early 2011. Year 2016 (Y2K16) Computer Bug Hits Texting in US and Banking in Australia

Text messages received after 1/1/2010 may be dated as 2016. This bug is reported in Windows Mobie 6.1, Windows Mobie 6.5 and even in some non-Windows Mobile phones. Only some mobile carriers seem to be experiencing this bug. WM Experts have provided a work-around for the time being.
Coincidentally, Australia’s Bank of Queensland’s EFTPOS terminals skipped ahead six years when the clock ticked over to January 1 and started date stamping January 2016. The glitch was a nationwide issue. The glitch cost businesses untold amounts as the EFTPOS terminals read customers’ cards as having expired and refused their transactions. […]
