Locate and Track Friends and Family Using MapmyIndia Locate App

Indian digital map maker MapmyIndia had officially launched ‘MapmyIndia Locate‘, a new digital map for mobiles. The users can find their location, can stay connected with friends, family and staff using this app.

This app is available for free in Google Play. The phones which has a different OS other than Android, can use the service by visiting the site http://locate.mapmyindia.com, through their phone’s web browser.

Using this app, a user can add up to 3 friends or family members to locate. Tracking of the user is enabled by default. It supports detailed movement reporting also.

The users can see the people whom they locate in a real time map. Users can either manually check-in to places or the app automatically picks up location every 500 meters and shows it as auto-check in. Also one can get movement reports of the people being located for 5 days. These reports include date, time and address where they check in to.

The app allow users to set custom locate settings, like days of the week and time of the day when they wish to be tracked. The movement reports will be available at both in the app and in the site.

For calculating the location, the app uses GPS, WiFi or Cell Tower triangulation.

The users can set/configure the times and days of the week within the app, when their friends/family can locate them. After setting, the users can report visits by checking into the app at the locations. The family/friends may either login to their own app or visit the site from phone’s browser to access the reports.
