When you delete photos and folders in Picasa, they are deleted from your computer’s hard drive as well. Deleted items are sent to the Recycle bin (Windows) or the Trash (Mac). Deleting photos from Picasa will not remove them from Picasa Web Albums unless you have sync to web enabled.
Deleting a single photo
If you wish to permanently delete a photo from your computer using Picasa, just right-click (Windows) or Control-click (Mac) the photo and select Delete from Disk (or press the Delete key). Click the Yes button in the confirmation window.
Deleting multiple photos
Select the photos you wish to delete in the display area. Press and hold the Ctrl key (Windows) or the Command key (Mac) on your keyboard while clicking multiple photos to select them together. Right-click (Windows) or Control-click (Mac) a selected photo and select Delete from Disk (or press the Delete key). Click the Yes button in the confirmation window.
Deleting an entire folder
Right-click (Windows) or Control-click (Mac) the folder you wish to delete in Picasa and select Delete Folder. Click the Yes button in the confirmation window.
Please note, this action deletes the folder and all its content, including non-image content, from your computer.
Deleting an album
Right-click (Windows) or Control-click (Mac) the album you wish to delete in Picasa and select Delete Album. Although the album is deleted, the photo files from the album remain in their original folder locations on your computer.
- If you manually delete photos from your hard drive outside of Picasa, the original photo thumbnails and metadata may still remain within the Picasa application for a short time. To ensure that photos and thumbnails are immediately deleted from Picasa, delete the files from within the Picasa application. [source]
