Tata Docomo 3G in November 2010 (Diwali)

Tata Docomo announced the launch of it’s 3G services by Diwali (5th November , 2010). Japan’s NTTDoCoMo provides technical inputs for the 3G implementation. Tata Docomo expects to provide high-end services such as ultra-fast internet and videoconferencing by building a world-class 3G network. The 3G tariffs is not yet announced, but the pricing is expects to be consumer friendly.

Tata Docomo will offer various 3G products and services such as i-mode, location based services and mobile payment. i-mode is a mobile internet service popular in Japan. i-mode users have access to various services such as e-mail, sports results, weather forecast, games, financial services and ticket booking. Content is provided by specialized services, typically from the mobile carrier, which allows them to have tighter control over billing.

The 3G services will be launched in Maharashtra, Gujarat, Karnataka, Kerala, Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh (West), Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh. [source]

Other leading operators such as Bharti Airtel, Reliance Communications, Vodafone Essar are also slated to introduce 3G services by the year-end, but the date is yet to be announced.
