RIM PlayBook Tablet in India – Price Starting at Rs 27,990

Research in Motion (RIM) announced the launch of seven-inch PlayBook tablet in India, priced Rs 27,990 for the 16GB version, Rs 32,990 for 32GB, and Rs 37,990 for the slate with 64GB storage.

The PlayBook supports Adobe Flash, Adobe Mobile AIR and HTML-5. It is equipped with a 1GHz dual-core processor, 1GB RAM and two HD cameras for video conferencing a video capture. It runs a completely new operating system built by QNX Software Systems, a Canadian company that was acquired by RIM in 2010.  Read more about Playbook.

The device supports Wi-fi networks. Customers can use Bluetooth technology to wirelessly connect the slate to BlackBerry phones to access their smartphone’s e-mail, address book, calendar, memopad and BB Messenger.

The Playbook will be distributed nationally through Redington India and Ingram Micro, initially in 1,000 retail stores across eight cities in India.
