PicMonkey is a browser based photo editing application, which can be used for free without any registration. It is also available in a paid version called Royale which offers ad free editing.
Even though PicMonkey does not need a user to sign in for editing his photographs, it also allows the users to create user IDs. This facility is made especially for its premium version users.
PicMonkey offers a set of editing tools such as Crop, Rotate, Exposure [for light], Colors, Sharpen [better edges] and Resize in its Basic edits. It also has an Auto Adjust button which adjusts the contrast and brightness of an image to optimum conditions.
It offers a wide variety of photo effects which are mainly categorized into 8 categories viz, Tried and True, Basic, Camera Look, Paintbox, Light, Area Artsy and Advanced. All the categories contains Basic and Royale effects. The Royale effects can be used only in Royale mode.
The Touch Up section offers many basic and Royale features which are mainly categorized into four, namely Skin, Mouth, Eyes and “The Rest”. The Rest section has four options, namely Nip Tuck for reshaping the image, Weight loss for making it look like slim, Highlights for highlighting specific areas/features and Clone.
The users can also enter texts on the photographs via Text option. It offers a number of fonts in both modes, which are categorized into 14 typefaces such as Sans Serif, Serif, Handwriting, Script, Display, Penmanship, Vampire Scrawl, Undead Text, Tattoo Ink, Conjuror’s Characters, Possessed Text, Frightful Fonts, Cool Characters and Sweet Nothings.
There are 6 kinds of overlay options in the settings palette of PicMonkey. They are General, People Toppers, Whimsy, Elements, Scrapbooky and Nature. It also offers a variety of frames such as rounded corners, simple edge, drop shadow, museum mate, Polaroid frame etc.
Users are allowed to create their own textures or they can choose from the available textures in the PicMonkey range, which include Space, Burst, Light Trails, Bokeh, Clouds, Water, Edifice, Metal, Smudge, Papyrus, Paint and Weave.
PicMonkey had added a set of themes which consists of different effects, overlays, text, textures and frames. Some of the Themes are School U, Vampires, Zombies, DAY of the DEAD, Witches, Demons, Trick or Treat, WINTERLAND and Sweethearts.
Apart of these, users can create collages using PicMonkey, which offers different layouts, swatches and backgrounds.
