Inkscape is a vector graphics editor application under a free software license, the GNU GPL. It’s a Powerful graphic tool with capabilities similar to Illustrator, Freehand, CorelDraw, or Xara X using the W3C standard Scalable Vector Graphics(SVG) file format. Supported SVG features include shapes, paths, text, markers, clones, alpha blending, transforms, gradients, patterns, and grouping.
Inkscape supports Creative Commons meta-data, node editing, layers, complex path operations, bitmap tracing, text-on-path, flowed text, direct XML editing, and more. It imports formats such as JPEG, PNG, TIFF, and others and exports PNG as well as multiple vector-based formats.
Inkscape’s main goal is to create a powerful and convenient drawing tool fully compliant with XML, SVG, and CSS standards. It allows freehand drawing of paths, Bezier spline node-by-node curves, brush-like strokes, create lines in the same path, fills bounded areas of the image, creates copies or clones of one or several items, creating rectangles, 3D Boxes, ellipses, Stars/polygons, spirals Raster/bitmap images, Unicode characters fonts are supported. Bold, Oblique (Italic), Alignments (left, right, center, full), Superscript, Subscript, Vertical and Horizontal text are implemented. and provide Filters
