ChompSMS for Android is a replacement for built-in messaging application for Android. It provides chat-style bubbles, contact pictures, quick reply, signatures, templates, blacklisting, heaps of customizations, themes and much more. The chompSMS application is completely free.
You can simply use chompSMS as a souped-up replacement to the built-in Messaging application, just with a heap more features and customizations.
When you choose to send an SMS message via chompSMS, it uses your Internet data connection (WiFi/3G) to transmit the message. One MB is enough to send around 1,000 chompSMS messages (depending on the text size).
