Facebook on Snaptu – Brings Facebook to Low End Mobile Phones

Facebook in association with Snaptu announced the launch of a new Facebook mobile application that bring Facebook to the most popular mobile phones around the world.

This new application brings smartphone-like usability to over 2,500 different types of mobile devices, including around 80% of the devices sold worldwide. Built on the Snaptu mobile app platform, the new Facebook mobile app brings popular features like Photos and familiar user experience to the world’s most popular feature phones.

The app provides a better Facebook experience for most popular features, including an easier-to-navigate home screen, contact synchronization, and fast scrolling of photos and friend updates.

Like Snaptu’s own breakthrough app, already used by over 27 million people worldwide, the new Facebook app will also include a range of other popular web and online services, including news, sport, weather and over 30 other applications and services, including the popular LinkedIn, ESPN and AccuWeather.

Facebook plans to make it available to as many people as possible and working with mobile operators from around the world to avoid paying for any data charges. The 14 mobile operators listed below are offering free data access when using the new Facebook mobile app during the first 90 days after they launch.

m.fb.snaptu.com/f is already launched on Dialog (Sri Lanka), Life (Ukraine), Play (Poland), StarHub (Singapore), STC (Saudi Arabia), Three (Hong Kong), Tunisiana (Tunisia), Viva (Dominican Republic) and Vodafone (Romania)

Launching soon: on Mobilicity (Canada), Reliance (India), Telcel (Mexico), TIM (Brazil) and Vivacom (Bulgaria)
