Virgin Blue Airlines to Use aiRES Passenger Services System from IBS Software

IBS Software Services has announced that Cendant Travel Distribution Services, the marketer of its next-generation Passenger Services System (PSS), aiRES, has signed an agreement with Australia’s second largest airline Virgin Blue Airlines. Virgin Blue is the third major customer to sign-up for aiRES.

The IBS Group is a leading IT solutions provider to the global Travel, Transportation and Logistics (TTL) industry. AiRES is developed by IBS Software Services located in Kerala’s Technopark, Thiruvananthapuram. As with any product development companies, even though IBS had tough time in the early stages, it seems they are moving up in the market and gaining good name in the logistics and transportation domain.

aiRES is an integrated, multi-hosting system which will comprehensively address passenger reservations, inventory control, fares & ticketing, and departure control functions of commercial airlines. It will address the needs of both sophisticated full service carriers as well as that of low cost operators. aiRES is scalable and easily customizable to suit the diverse business needs of various airlines.

Virgin Blue and its sister carriers currently operate a fleet of 51 modern Boeing 737 aircrafts flying to 22 destinations across metropolitan and regional Australia, as well as eight international destinations.

Infosys Technologies has a vertical unit with expertise in Transportation & Services. Now that Infosys also operates from Technopark, Thiruvananthapuram, is there any possibility of IBS joining with Infosys for this product? smiling hm… a possibility worth studying… a topic for another blog entry!

IBS expects to reach a staff strength of over 5000 in the next 5 years. Shri. V S Achuthanandan, Chief Minister of Kerala, formally inaugurated the IBS Campus Foundation Function at Technopark, Thiruvananthapuram on May 26, 2006. IBS is building its own campus within Technopark in 5.3 Acres of land. The campus will have approximately 4,50,000 square feet of office space, which would accommodate nearly 4000 employees. The master plan consists of 4 buildings, self-sufficient with cafeteria, amenities, activity centres, parking lots etc. In addition, the IBS campus would have its own ‘‘Open-Air Theatre’.
