A few of my friends inquired me about the hosting service I use for TECK.IN. So, I thought of sharing the information with all of my readers
I have been using powweb.com for a couple of years. I had signed up for two years with them. Powweb offers 1,500GB diskspace and 15,000 GB data transfer per month. This is really more than enough for hosting multiple websites under the same hosting plan. Powweb offers 75 MySQL databases and a free domain registration with one year hosting. Powweb costs $5.77/month.
Powweb made my web life simple! I could host many websites, including .com and .in domains under the same hosting plan without having to pay any extra penny!
Some of my friends are using DreamHost. The hosting plan looks good too. DreamHost costs $9.95/mo for 1 year or $8.95/mo for 2 years. DreamHost offers unlimited MySQL databases and a disk space of 500GB plus a growing 2GB per week! DreamHost offers almost unlimited data transfer / bandwidth of 5 TB plus growing 40GB per month!
I am not even looking at any email services the hosting companies provide. I would suggest using Google Apps instead, which will be anyway much reliable than any other mail services.
Both Powweb and DreamHost offers Control Panel, DNS Management, Sub-Domains, FTP access, installable modules, etc.. I found that, these US-based web hosting services are much reliable, easy to use and much cheaper than corresponding Indian hosting companies.
Which hosting service do you use? Would you prefer local (i.e. Indian) hosting or US-based hosting? Why?
