Nimbuzz Vchatter Mobile Instant Messaging in Virgin Mobile India

Nimbuzz and Virgin Mobile India have partnered to bring Nimbuzz social networking and chatting to Virgin Mobile’s youth-centric customers. The multibrand WAP chat application in Virgin Mobile is branded as “Vchatter“. Vchatter allows users to access multiple instant messengers from a single login.

In the first phase, Vchatter will allow Virgin Mobile users to chat in the very familiar Vbytes (Virgin Mobile’s WAP portal) environment. Vchatter brings a one click log-in to multiple IMs like Yahoo Messenger, Gtalk, MSN Messenger, Facebook, Skype etc. via the Vbytes portal for free. Vchatter has been adapted to suit VMI’s young users’ needs with a customized User Interface and design created in-house by Virgin Mobile. The application is easy to use and brings all your messenger contacts into a single common friend list.

The second phase will see the launch of Virgin-branded Nimbuzz Java applications, in Virgin Mobile’s upcoming pre-paid handsets. Virgin Mobile plans to promote Nimbuzz’s “Vchatter” mobile chat service via a dedicated webpage on the Virgin Mobile website, and with a direct-contact-to-consumer campaign. For its part, Nimbuzz has launched an official India blog to interact with its community in India, for news, behind the scenes insight, new features and trends.


Nimbuzz is a multi-community mobile social messenger, combining instant messaging, (geo) presence, and VoIP across popular communities, including Skype, Windows Live Messenger (MSN), Yahoo! Messenger, ICQ, GoogleTalk, AIM, and social networks including Facebook and MySpace. The free application is available on the mobile, PC and web, for instant messaging, location sharing, (group) calling, file sharing, and chat rooms.

Virgin Mobile brand is India’s first national youth-focused mobile service. Virgin Mobile branded services are being offered to the Indian consumers by Tata Teleservices through a brand franchise with Virgin group. Virgin Mobile India facilitates Tata Teleservices with experience and expertise in designing, marketing and servicing of Virgin Mobile branded products for the youth segment. Virgin Mobile services are being supported from 14 offices across India and the current employee strength is more than 500 personnel. While Virgin Mobile branded service can be enjoyed by customers in over 3,20,000 cities, towns and villages across India, the focus on subscriber acquisition so far has been across top 320 cities and is set to extend to more cities by year end. Virgin Mobile branded handsets are available across 50, 000 outlets and its top up cards across 75,000 outlets nationally.
