IP2 is a small, standalone tool that reveals your current Internet IP address, even if you are behind a router. IP2 does not need to be installed and can run from a USB drive, or just copy it to your desktop. It shows both WAN and LAN IPs, computer name and DNS name, all of which can be easily copied to the clipboard.
A built-in list of several servers enables the program to send a request and receive a reply from a remote server containing your Internet accessible IP address. The program uses the services of 5 online sites making it more reliable than applications that use a single server to decipher your IP address.
The servers and methods used are as follows:
- Queries one of the MyWANIP servers[advt]
- Queries the web site checkip.dyndns.org
- Queries the web site www.whatismyipaddress.com
- Queries the web site ipchicken.com
- Queries the Geektools Whois server whois.geektools.com
