15th Annual GSMA Global Mobile Awards for Steve Jobs, Kenya and RIM

The GSMA (GSM Association) announced the winners of the Global Mobile Awards at the 2010 Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. BlackBerry Enterprise Server v5.0 from RIM (Research In Motion) won the Best Mobile Enterprise Product or Service award, Kenya won the Government Leadership Award, and Steve Jobs won the Mobile Industry Personality of the Year as Voted for by the Media.

The awards presentation included the winners of 19 categories, covering Mobile Marketing and Advertising, Best Mobile Contribution to Social and Economic Development, the Green Mobile Awards, Mobile Personality of the Year, Mobile Innovation and Mobile Entertainment and at the evening event two highlight awards were presented, the Best Mobile Handset and the Chairman’s Award for outstanding contribution to the growth and success of the mobile industry.

Spanning 219 countries, the GSMA unites nearly 800 of the world’s mobile operators, as well as more than 200 companies in the broader mobile ecosystem, including handset makers, software companies, equipment providers, Internet companies, and media and entertainment organisations. The GSMA is focused on innovating, incubating and creating new opportunities for its membership, all with the end goal of driving the growth of the mobile communications industry.
