Airtel, the leading global telecommunications company, has announced the launch of iKisaan – the world’s first interactive service specially designed in Hindi. This service by Airtel is powered by Handygo and aggregates information from authentic sources that provide authentic localized information on crop, agri-input prices and information on weather.
Airtel claims that this service is a first for rural India and with the launch of iKisaan, customers can get real time access to crop prices, prevalent agri-input prices of seeds, pesticides, weather information and localized farming advisory all in Hindi which is specific to their district.
The service will be available to all the Airtel digital TV customers at no additional cost for the first month from launch. To activate this service one can press iTV on their universal remote, select iKisaan, choose their state and district and the intuitive interface needs just a one-time entry of the user’s location.[source]
