If you’re tired of not being able to find the right words to express yourself in your messages, emoticons are here to help. Gmail has a number of images (for example, smiley faces, food and drinks, or broken hearts) that you can use with, or in place of, the text in your messages.
Follow these steps to play along:
- When you’re composing a message, click the Insert Emoticon button on the toolbar; it’s the face located between the Highlight Color and the Link button.
- The emoticon pane expands, and remains open so you can select as many images as you’d like. Click an image, and it’s inserted in your message.
- If you’d like to collapse the emoticon picker after you’ve selected an image, you can just click the Insert Emoticon button in the toolbar again.
Keep in mind you’ll need to be in rich formatting mode to see the emoticon button. Have fun. [source]
