With Google Docs Viewer you can quickly view documents online directly and securely from a browser. Google has updated the Google Doc Viewer with new features including support for an additional 12 file types from popular software programs.
It now supports major Microsoft Office file types (DOC, DOCX, PPT, PPTX, XLS and XLSX) as well as provides quick viewing capabilities for many of the most popular and highly-requested document and image types.
With this update, Google introduced the following file types in Google docs viewer:
- Microsoft Excel (.XLS and .XLSX)
- Microsoft PowerPoint 2007 / 2010 (.PPTX)[advt]
- Apple Pages (.PAGES)
- Adobe Illustrator (.AI)
- Adobe Photoshop (.PSD)
- Autodesk AutoCad (.DXF)
- Scalable Vector Graphics (.SVG)
- PostScript (.EPS, .PS)
- TrueType (.TTF)
- XML Paper Specification (.XPS)
In Gmail, these types of attachments will now show a “View” link, and clicking on this link will bring up the Google Docs Viewer.
You can also upload and share these files in Google Docs, so that anyone can view the content using their browser, without having to worry about installing the software on the desktop.
