I have been looking for a simple, easy to implement, easy to maintain and easy to use open source tool for Knowledge Management in software projects.
My search ended successfully today! I found DokuWiki to do what I want.
Quoting the website:
DokuWiki is a standards compliant, simple to use Wiki, mainly aimed at creating documentation of any kind. It is targeted at developer teams, workgroups and small companies. It has a simple but powerful syntax which makes sure the datafiles remain readable outside the Wiki and eases the creation of structured texts. All data is stored in plain text files – no database is required.
DokuWiki is written in PHP. This is mainly designed for Unix/Apache with PHP. In my Windows XP laptop, I had already enabled PHP 5.0.4 in IIS 6 by running installer file from php.net. Next step was to download DokuWiki tar file, untar it (using 7-Zip) and copy/FTP the files over to the docroot direcory of the web server. Thats it, all set!
I am yet to go through all the features of DokuWiki, but I am very much impressed!
Thank you Andreas!
