3G Enabled Laptops in India – Olive “ZipBooks”

Olive Telecommunication has launched India’s first ever range of Zipbooks, the 3G Embedded Netbooks, which provides a truly anytime anywhere mobile broadband solution.

The Olive Convergence Zipbook is truly the mobile computing device that gives the user not only the ideal mobile broadband experience as the technology is expected to deliver, but also a versatile and powerful computing machine.

The notebooks are powered by Qualcomm’s QSC6085 chipset and support EV-DO. The notebooks runs on Intel Atom N270 processor, with 1-GB DDR2 memory, 160-GB HDD and weighs only 1.3 kgs. The notebook runs Windows and is Wi-Fi enabled.

Olive Telecommunication has tied up with Tata Teleservices for its EVDO based Netbooks and the same will be available to consumer from select Tata Indicom Stores and through the Tata Photon channel. On the other hand the company for its HSPA version based Netbooks has got into an agreement with BSNL, which would be made available in all BSNL 3G circles.

The company will also be releasing Windows 7 laden versions in the months to come — which will be powered by Intels new Pineview processors.

The prices of the ZipBooks is expected to be around Rs 25,000.
