Freedom Walk in Kerala to Promote Freedom in Software

Three friends of GNU Linux Users Group in Thiruvananthapuram (ILUG-TVM), are now on a Freedom Walk through full length of Kerala from Kasargode to Thiruvananthapuram with an objective to spread the message of Freedom in Software, Freedom in Society and Freedom from Environmental Issues.

As part of this Freedom Walk, they will be conducting seminars and talks on these freedoms at educational institutions and non profit organizations. If you are the one who belive in these freedom and want to be free, you may connect with the volunteers for the common cause.

The progress and updates of the Freedom Walk are regularly updated on this website freedomwalk.in. You can also interact with the team on a regular and real time basis during the walk.

In a related note, the proposed International Centre for Free and Open Source Software (ICFOSS) will be set up in Thiruvananthapuram by December 2008. The centre will act as a nodal agency for the implementation of e-governance at government institutions and promote entrepreneurs in implementing FOSS. Kerala state government has allotted Rs 60 lakh for setting up the centre. Read more at The Hindu.
