Infosys announced results for the Quarter ended December 31, 2009. Q3 revenues sequentially grew by 6.8%. Revenues were $1,232 million and the Net Income after tax was $334 million. For the Quarter ending March 31, 2010, consolidated revenues are expected to be in the range of $1,240 million and $1,250 million; YoY growth of 10.6% to 11.5%. TRAI proposes to retain the current 10-digit format for mobile numbers, and open up 2 to 7 series for mobile numbers. With this plan, mobile phone numbers will remain the same, and existing landline numbers will be migrated to 10-digits across the country. Currently, over 90% of the mobile numbers begin with 9 and the rest with 8. TRAI proposal will open up all levels except numbers beginning with the digit ‘1’, which will be reserve for emergency services, toll free numbers and for government-related issues. Read full story »
A new green phone concept for Nokia is being designed – uses bio-battery to replace the traditional battery to create a pollution-free environment. The bio-battery genrates electricity from carbohydrates and utilizes enzymes as the catalyst. By using bio battery as the power source of the phone, it only needs a pack of soft-drinks such as Coke or Pepsi and it generates water and oxygen while the battery dies out. A job satisfaction survey by the Corporate Executive Board found that the number of dissatisfied workers continues to increase in IT industry. The survey found that the willingness of IT employees to exert high levels of discretionary effort has gone down to its lowest levels. The recession and its accompanying reorganizations and layoffs have been corrosive to IT employee job satisfaction. Over a third were planning to change jobs once the job market improves.
