Samsung Electronics launched their 3D Video-On-Demand (VOD) service to India for their range of Smart TVs.
Available locally, the 3D VOD service allows consumers to access 3D content free and online from Samsung Smart TVs. Existing and new owners of Samsung SMART TVs will be able to access the 3D VOD content at no additional cost by downloading the ‘Explore 3D’ application available on Samsung Apps. More than 30 3D clips have been made available.
As a start, the 3D content will include movie trailers, music videos, children’s classics, as well as lifestyle videos and documentaries. As part of Samsung’s collaboration with Dreamworks, the service will feature exclusive 3D movie trailers from How to train your dragon, Shrek4, Megamind and Kung Fu Panda 2 as well as music videos from popular bands – Girls Generation, Super Junior and BoA.
[advt]In addition, shorts from children’s classics such as Pinocchio, The Ugly Duckling, Aladdin and the Magic Lamp, Puss in Boots, lifestyle videos such as Mercedes Benz Classic Collection, Takeoff-Macau, The Enchanted Hill: Inside the Hearst Castle, and IMAX documentaries such as Grand Canyon Adventure, Dinosaurs of Patagonia, Dinosaurs Alive, Wild Ocean, Mummies, Ultimate Wave Tahiti, Ultimate Gs, Legends of Flight, will also be made available through the service. Samsung expects to increase the 3D VOD content to 100 by the end of 2011.
The introduction of 3D VOD service is in line with Samsung’s strategy to offer rich content for its SMART TV users.
Samsung’s Free 3D VOD Service is available on all 2011 Samsung 3D SMART TVs – 10 models in the screen sizes between 32” and 60” across Series D6000, D6600, D7000 and D8000 priced between Rs. 57,900 to Rs. 400,000. The D8000 Plasma is available in 64” screen size priced at Rs.230,000.
