Vodafone Essar, Indian subsidiary of Vodafone Group and one of India’s leading cellular service providers, selected Nokia Siemens Networks and Ericsson India as partners for its 3G network across the country.
Vodafone selected Ericsson to provide exclusive 3G HSPA services in India’s largest metropolitan cities of Mumbai, Delhi and Kolkata. Nokia Siemens will supply, implement and manage its 3G network in six of the nine circles Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh (East), rest of West Bengal and Haryana – where it secured 3G spectrum. These 9 circles cover over 60 percent of the vodafone essar’s current customer-base.
These allies will enable swift 3G deployment, create synergy between GSM and 3G networks, and maintain leading-edge high speed packet access networks in nine of Vodafone’s 3G license circles. Vodafone will utilise the latest HSPA technology to deliver new services like video telephony, mobile broadband, mobile TV and others.
Nokia Siemens Networks will supply to Vodafone Essar its energy-efficient radio and core network technology, related services including network planning and project management to enable fast and high-quality 3G network implementation.
Vodafone Essar would provide services including video telephony, mobile broadband and mobile TV on the third-generation network.
Both Ericcson and Nokia Siemens will collaborate with Vodafone to provide high quality 3G services to indian customers.
