IRCTC Train Ticket Booking Using Airtel Money Service

airtel-money-logo Bharti Airtel’s mobile wallet service Airtel Money has tied up with IRCTC to offer mobile based ticket reservations.

The customers using Airtel connections can search for stations, trains, availability, PNR enquiry and ticket cancellation by dialing *400# which will enable the user to access a USSD system. The USSD (Unstructured Supplementary Service Data) system will help users with interactive and guided menu options for booking tickets. For using the service, user doesn’t need to worry about the kind of handset or paying data/SMS charges.

To access Airtel Money service, the Airtel subscribers have to dial *400#, then an Airtel Money express account will be generated, into which customers will have to invest cash. The users can invest money either by visiting a nearby Airtel Money outlet or by doing it online.

An IRCTC account is a must to use the service. The IRCTC account should be updated with the Airtel Money number. After booking the ticket, IRCTC will generate and send a confirmation SMS as usual. Customers can use it as the e-ticket while traveling along with a Valid ID Card.

IRCTC is going to launch ticket booking via SMS and USSD from July 1. While Airtel Money is providing USSD service, SMS services are being offered by Bharat BPO, Frequency Weekly and Pyro Group.

Customers can send SMS to 139 and 5676714 for Bharat BPO & Frequency Weekly from mobile services and for Pyro Group, customers should install a BSNL pre-paid card.
