Microsoft Edge to Replace Internet Explorer in Windows 10

Microsoft announced that their new browser in Windows 10 is named Microsoft Edge. The web browser will be available on Windows and Windows Phone.

The project was named Project Spartan earlier. This was announced in the Microsoft Build Developer Conference 2015.

microsoft-edge-logoMicrosoft Edge comes with a new logo, resembling that of Internet Explorer.

It comes with a new rendering engine named EdgeHTML, thus making Microsoft Edge a totally new product comapring to it’s ancestor Internet Explorer. Edge will still have the ability to load the IE11 engine for legacy enterprise websites.

Since the lowercase “e” logo is of the similar shape and color of the current Internet Exploer, maintaining it will reduce confusion and improve the acceptance of the new browser.

It is said that, Microsoft Edge will be a universal app, enabling users to download and update it from the Store.
