All India Radio (AIR), India’s National Broadcaster, has officially introduced ‘All India Radio Live’ Android App. You can very easily install this simple app and start listening to the AIR channels.
Now listening to AIR has become as easy as listening to music from your phone. You can listen live your favourite station just by a touch.
The android app current has AIR Malayalam (Akashavani), AIR Gujarati, AIR Marathi, AIR Punjabi, FM India, FM Gold Delhi, FM Rainbow Delhi, Vividh Bharati Mumbai and FM Urdu Delhi.
You can install it from Google Play at this link or search for ‘All India Radio Live‘ in Play Store.
The All India Radio Live Streaming of these stations were already enabled on the AIR website http://allindiaradio.gov.in
The Android app connects to the live streaming via the internet data connection. So you don’t need an earphone connected to the phone, and works from anywhere on the world, provided you are on a suitable data plan or WiFi.
This initial version have only the very basic configurations – such as radio channel selection, favorite listing and volume control. In the current version, the screen is on while playing, thus consuming more power.
Let us hope for more functionality in the future releases of the app. I am listing down a few items which I wish is there in the app.
- The app needs to run in the background.
- I should be able to change the station or control the volume or mute it, even if the screen is locked when the station is playing.
- Auto off or sleeping mode option to allow me to set a auto switch off period, thus allowing me to play the radio while going to sleep.
- I would like to schedule reminders with an option to auto play. This will be very useful for me to listen live the periodic news telecasts and other programmes. I can also enable the radio station to play every morning when my local station starts telecasting!
Thank you, All India radio, We Love You, Always!
