zero.facebook.com – Facebook’s Text-Only Mobile Site

Facebook, world’s No. 1 social networking website, is developing a new text-only application called “Facebook Zero”. The new product was discussed at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. With Facebook Zero, Facebook will be available on the mobile web to everyone, anywhere. Zero is a light-weight version of m.facebook.com that omits data intensive applications like Photos.

zero.facebook.com is expected to launch in a couple of weeks. When you visit the zero site, you will see a notice that your carrier does not support the service and request you to use mobile site m.facebook.com. As the operators sign up with service, it will be available.

For slow-internet users, Facebook had earlier introduced a greatly trimmed-down version last year, called the Facebook Lite. It cuts out applications, groups and other data-intensive parts of the site.
