Step 1: Copy YouTube’s URL
To download a video file, just copy the URL provided by YouTube, as shown below. For example, a typical URL could be http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lof7Yq85ynE
Step 2: Paste the URL into ZillaTube
Paste the URL into ZillaTube program as shown below:
Then click the “Download YouTube Video” button.
You will be asked where to save the file, you may just select “desktop” for convenience, or any preferred location.
2. Opening the downloaded video file.
Upon completion of the file download, just drag and drop it into the Drop-Box area of ZillaTube program.
ZillaTube will automatically start playing the file in a separate preview window.
Soon, you will be notified by a message “File Accepted, Ready for Conversion” appearing in the drop-box area, indicating that it is now ready to perform video conversion.
At this time, you may choose to convert the movie. You do not have to wait for the movie-playing to complete. However, before performing the conversion, it is recommended that the preview window is closed by clicking on its “close button” at the top-right-corner of its window. This may speed up the conversion process.
You may also choose one of the four conversion modes ( for example- PC, Music, VCD/DVD, or Mobile Devices ), and adjust the preferred conversion settings. By default, the PC conversion mode is selected.
3. Converting video file:
There are four modes of conversion, as listed below:
3.1 PC files ( AVI/MPG )
In this mode, the program can convert YouTube video to either AVI (Audio Video Interleave), or MPG/MPEG (Motion Picture Expert Group) formats, to be viewed on your desktop computers.
The movie size and quality can be changed from the drop-down menus at the conversion section of the program. Default screen size is set at 640×480, and movie bit-rate (quality) at 500kbps.
The sound sampling rate and quality is by default set at 22050 Hertz with bit-rate of 96kbps. Higher bit-rate yields a higher sound quality.
If YouTube video has a lot of background noise and undesired commentary, you can remove the audio component from the video completely. To accomplish this, all you have to do is just uncheck the “Enable Audio” option, and ZillaTube will automatically removes all audio from the conversion.
3.2 Audio file ( MP3/WMA )
ZillaTube has support for four types of encoding audio files. Most commonly used are MP3 and WMA, which are supported by plenty of electronics players such as hand-phones, portable players and personal digital assistant(PDA).
Occasionally, you may have downloaded news/music video that you want to listen to on your iPod on the way to work/study/etc, but in order to do that, you have to remove the video component. In this conversion mode, video elements will be filtered out, leaving behind the needed audio layer.
3.3 CD, SCD, DVD – NTSC/PAL
If you are creating a video CD or DVD, ZillaTube makes it even easier by letting you specify a target conversion type, either PAL or NTSC (for VCD, SVCD and DVD creation) . Then, it uses the target type to calculate the setting options required automatically.
Converted file in this mode has the highest audio and video quality – and is suitable to be burned into either CD or DVD disc for storage, and to be viewed on portable video players.
3.4 Mobile Devices that supports 3G2, 3GP, and MP4 formats
There may be times when you may want to bring along the youTube videos with you, and view them at any time, on your mobile devices (e.g. Hand-phones, Personal Digital Assistant or PDA, iPod, etc).
In this mode, you will be able to convert either to 3G or MP4 videos that are supported by major electronics portable devices.
4. Testing the converted file.
To test the converted file, simply click on the “Quick Test” button, right after the conversion process. A separate window appears, and the file will begin playing on it.
Another way to perform testing is to drop the converted file (that has been saved) into the Drop-Box area. Again, a separate window will appear to play the converted file.
