Vodafone M-PESA service (meaning M for Mobile and Pesa for money in Swahili), is one of the world’s first mobile-to-mobile money transfer services. This service will provide an instant, effective and secure way to send, store and receive money, wherever they are in the country.
Vodafone had already launched the service in Afghanistan in partnership with the Afghani operator Roshan.
In Tanzania, Vodafone has partnered with Vodacom for the implementing the M-PESA mobile money transfer service to Tanzania. Vodafone M-PESA users have to provide their mobile phone number and identification at an M-PESA agent like airtime dealers, petrol stations, post offices, banks or supermarkets. This service is provided for free in Tanzania by Vodacom. [via cn]
