As a part of going green, IRCTC has launched virtual tickets with the Virtual Reservation Message (VRM) and thus eliminates the need of physical tickets and printouts to travel in the train. VRM is a screen-shot of the e-ticket displayed through laptops/palmtops/mobile phone.

Indian Railway introduced m-ticket which allows passengers to get their ticket on their mobile instaed of taking printouts. Passengers can book the ticket through mobile phones having internet facility and carry the display ticket, sent to the cell phone by an SMS.

The Indian Railways is introducing platform tickets on mobile phone and it will put an end to long queues and save money in terms of platform paper, printing and manpower. An SMS on your mobile giving details of the platform ticket will be accepted as a platform ticket.

www.Bookmyshow.com, the entertainment ticketing website, launched its ticket booking application for BlackBerry smartphones, the first of its kind in India. BlackBerry subscribers will be able to download the free app by visiting www.Bookmyshow.com. The customer can enter his mobile number in the text box and receive a link to download app via SMS. It can also be downloaded from BlackBerry App World.
