With effect from the Christmas day, MTNL (Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Ltd) has introduced the Very High Bitrate DSL (VDSL) with Triple Play service in MTNL Mumbai circle. Idea Cellular is now India’s thrid largest GSM mobile operator. Idea Cellular (55.9 million customers) has overtaken BSNL (55.2 million), based on the November figures from the Cellular Operators Association of India. MTNL introduced a new Postpaid 3G Jadoo Pay per second Plan of Rs.149 for its 2G and 3G GSM Mobile service subscribers of Mumbai and Delhi-NCR telecom circle. With the new plan, MTNL Dolphin Postapid customers can now enjoy the Per Second Pulse for all Local and STD Voice and Video calls to any mobile or landline network across India. Micromax and MTNL announced Micromax H360, the first operator branded 3G HSPA handset in India. The H360 will come pre-loaded with unique applications to enable video calls, mobile TV, social networking, wireless business solutions through web browsing and other Internet-based services. These handsets will initially beavailable in the cities of Mumbai and Delhi. MTNL became the first 3G mobile service operator in the country by introducing its “3G Jadoo” service recently in Delhi and Mumbai. BSNL 3G Network to launch in Chennai and North-Eastern states by Jan 2009. Also, MTNL is still on target to launch its 3G network in Delhi and Mumbai. MTNL has already completed laboratory grade tests of its 3G network and will launch the tests in Delhi.
