Google launched Indic Transliteration feature in Gmail compose window, which enables you to select Malayalam, Hindi, Tamil, Kannada or Telugu. When you compose a new mail in Gmail, you will see an icon with an Indic character. If you do not see this function enabled by default, you will need to go the “Settings” -> “Language” and enable this option. Read full story »
Billu, the Bollywood movie starring Irfan Khan and Sharukh Khan, which is a remake of “Katha parayumbol” in Malayalam, is now on Orkut Apps too.

Firefox 3.0.2 is now available in Indic languages – Hindi, Kannada, Telugu, Marathi and Bengali.
So now Firefox is localized in over 45 languages. This is done with the contributions from Mozilla community members around the world.
Firefox is not yet available on the South Indian languages Tamil and Malayalam.

Google Talk has announced Indic Transliteration Bots recently. The transliteration bots converts text from English to Hindi, Kannada, Malayalam, Tamil or Telugu.
You can invite the bot as a guest to your chat session. The bot transliterates what you type in English to the right local language.
