Google Keyboard for Indian Languages (Google Transliteration IME)

Google Transliteration Input Method Editor (IME) allows users to enter text in one of the supported languages into any input window using a roman keyboard, without needing any internet connection. The IME is currently available for 14 different languages including Bengali, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Punjabi, Tamil and Telugu. The IME assists you with dictionary based word completions for prefixes. Users can type a word the way it sounds using Latin characters and Google Transliteration IME will convert the word to its native script Unicode. Read full story »

Voice Based Internet Search on Indian Mobiles – Google India

Google India launched free voice-based internet search facility on mobiles, built entirely by the Google’s India engineering team. Th is feature is currently available for 400,000 Blackberry cellphone users only. This search service is currently available only in English. To use the voice-based mobile search, a user log on to the internet on the handset, open Google search page, and “ask” for a particular location, like pizza joint, taxi stand or florist while driving a vehicle.
