I have been using TataSky DTH at home for the last 3 years. Today after careful reviews, I decided to move to Sun Direct DTH (Direct To Home) Service, India’s first MPEG4 technology DTH service.
Sun Direct DTH Packages / Plans
For the South India packages, Dish & STB (Set Top Box) are provided Free, but with an installation and activation charge of 1250 and a South India Freedom package subscription of 4 months for Rs 440 or 9 months for Rs 990. You can as well choose over 170+ channels with add-on pack on monthly subscription Add-on Packages starting from Rs. 6/- to Rs. 300/-.
Sun Direct DTH Freedom Package for Kerala has 12 Malayalam Channels – Amrita, Asianet, Asianet Plus, Asianet News, Surya TV, Kiran TV, DD Malayalam, Manorama News, India Vision, Kairali, Kairali We and Jaihind TV.
Sun Direct DTH Freedom Package for Tamil Nadu has 15 Tamil Channels – Sun TV, K TV, Sun News, Sun Music, Aaditya, Kalaignar TV, Kalaignar Seithigal, Jaya TV, Jaya Plus, Star Vijay, Makkal TV, Mega TV, DD Pothigai, Vasanth TV and Raj TV.
Sun Direct DTH Freedom Package for Andhra Pradesh has 12 Telugu Channels – Gemini TV, Teja TV, Gemini Music, Gemini News, GCV, TV9 Telugu, ETV, ETV 2, Maa TV, Raj Vissa, Sakshi TV and DD Sapthagiri.
Sun Direct DTH Freedom Package for Karnataka has 9 Kannada Channels – Udaya TV, Udaya Movies, Udaya 2, Udaya Varthegalu, USHE TV, TV9 Kannada, Asianet Suvarna, ETV Kannada, DD Chandana.

Mega TV and Makkal TV Missing
From 04 Mar 2010 night onwards, i am also not getting Makkal TV and Mega Tv.I think it’s could be political problem.i am using SUN DTH. So i am going to remove my SUN DTH connection.please tell me which DTH connection is best?

@chaitanya: MPEG4 technology is much more clear than the local cable operators, unless you have subscribed to their Cable Digital service which also includes a digital box.
In most localities, underlying cable network gets cut by digging the road or by trees falling on it or for cable maintenance work, etc.. Sometimes you get grains or blue screens due to the problem of signal boosters in the cable network also. With the Dish, all those dependencies are avoided – if you have power at your home, you get DTH, with very much clear picture of DVD quality.
Now that Sun Direct offers cheaper rates compared to other DTH services and minimum basic channels, which is good enough for a house hold, this works well.
(Personally I do not watch TV much, only a few news channels during morning tea time, the rest is done online!)
Even after the installation of Sun Direct, I had a bad experience with their customer service! Details written at the TECK.IN Forum: E50-32 No Service Available
For Sundirect dealers ,Why you are not added Kasturi TV channel in this service?I think already you known that Dish TV DTH added two more kannada channels namely Kasturi TV & Suvarna channel without increasing cost.you are added free channels namely Zee Cinema,Filmy&Sahara one in Shine and Bengali Packages freely. But you are not added atleat one free kannada remaining channel.
What advantage does MPEG4 technology bring?
I am happy with my cable operator who charges one-time 500 INR and monthly 180/- for 225 channels.
