Orkut Buyukkokten & Email Hoax on Orkut Account Getting Deleted
Today I received the following message in orkut from one of my friend.
Dear user because of sudden rush of people signing upto orkut is come
to an attention that we are vastly running our of resources so with in a week
any one who does not receive this scrap will be deleted of our server . We know
that you are still using this accountWe want to find out which users are actually using their orkut accounts so
if you are using your then please send this scrap to every orkut user that you
can if u do not pass this scrap to anyone then we will delete your accountFrom Orkut Buyukkokten

BTW, are you wondering who is Orkut Buyukkokten? He is the Google engineer who developed orkut.com as a social networking service. It was created as an independent project to help people around the world connect. Currently orkut.com is run by Google itself.
Do you think that Google, a company providing practically unlimited storage for emails, going to delete the accounts? It is a new set of hoax in the social networking. These kind of email hoaxes were there for MSN messenger, yahoo messenger and even for Gmail during the initial days.
I would request people to think about and verify any such emails before forwarding to all. First of all, such emails themselves eat up the internet resources. Secondly, your friends will come to know how fool you are when receiving such hoax emails from you!

I think we all are used to hoax mails by now, and dont take them seriously..
Is it true? Inactive accounts will be deleted? 2/16/2006
We heard there’s a rumor going around orkut that says orkut.com will delete your account for inactivity. We’ve even received this notice from someone pretending to be Orkut himself! This is not true and you can safely disregard these messages or scraps.

This hoax does make some sense
but remember the always forwarded hoax about MS, Nokia etc. giving mobiles for free!
