The issue was discussed in great detail in the wake of back-to-back serial blasts in Bangalore and Ahmedabad. Sri Lanka, which has been embroiled in internal conflict for the last 30 years, has only recently made it compulsory for the mobile phone users to be in possession of their own phones registered under their names in order to check the use of mobile phones in terrorist attacks. It is imperative that steps be taken to ensure the safety of the people though this type of conditions may have some effect on the use and popularity of the mobile phone telephony.
