airtel introduces ‘Medical advice on phone‘ – a health care advice service on the mobile phone. With this airtel aims to provide best-in-class 24X7 tele-triage services to its customers by leveraging cellular technology and providing a convenient platform to the healthcare ecosystem to deliver quality healthcare services. Mediphone provides immediate care for Non Acute Minor Ailments with appropriate advice. airtel has formed a strategic alliance with Healthfore (a division of Religare Technologies Ltd.) to provide the Mediphone services.
Triage is a process of determining the priority of patient’s treatment based on the severity of their condition. Tele triage is a safe and effective way of providing health care advice delivered by health care professionals via the telephone.
To access this service the customer simply has to call 54445 from his / her mobile phone and an IVR will connect him / her to a qualified medical practitioner.
Customers will be charged Rs. 35 per call/consultation but as a special Introductory offer till 2nd January 2012, customers needs to pay only 15 per call/consultation.
In case of Medical need, nothing is more comforting than having an experienced, compassionate doctor and nurses available when you need them and from where you are.
To provide this healthcare service to customers, airtel has formed a strategic alliance with Healthfore (a division of Religare Technologies ltd.) and its group company into healthcare delivery, Fortis Healthcare as the knowledge partner. Healthfore is supported by Medibank Health solutions, Australia for Technology Solutions. World over tele-triage services have been running very successfully.
Healthfore uses a clinical decision support solution from Medibank Health Solutions, Australia called “Care Enhance Call Center”, which has been use globally for more than 20 years. The service is staffed by accredited Doctors and Nurses for reliable quality healthcare advice on their mobile phone anytime, anywhere.
Through this service an airtel customer can call and speak to accredited Doctors and Nurses, and avail reliable quality health care advice on their mobile phone anytime, anywhere.
How does mediphone triage work?
airtel subscribers call 5-44-45 and get connected to HealthFore Medical center after automated charging through airtel gateway. Tele triage is a safe and effective way of providing health care advice delivered by health care professionals via the telephone
Process to use the service
airtel customers need to call the mediphone short code 5- 44-45. The call is answered by a Healthfore’s Health officer (HO) who is a trained and accredited Nurse or a Doctor. In case of a first time caller, the HO registers the caller, capture the clinical history and other relevant information using decision support solution. The caller is provided with an appropriate care advice and recommendation through SMS. All the cases are reviewed by Medical officer, who is MBBS or MD before care recommendations are sent out. All the doctors are accredited with Medical Council of India or equivalent State Medical Councils.
- As a part of a special Introductory offer, customers will be charged INR 15 per call/consultation. (Limited period till 2nd January 2012)
- 3rd January onwards, the cost of each consultation is Rs. 35. The charges are reflected in your bill (postpaid) or deducted from account balance (prepaid)
- Call connect charges of 50paise will be additional

Qualification of mediphone agents
The health officers receiving the call will have a minimum qualification of Bachelor of Science (Nursing), Bachelor of Pharmacy or Diploma in Pharmacy/BDS/BHMS. Doctors operating as team leaders will have a minimum qualification of MBBS/MD or MS. They will have minimum experience of one year in providing medical care. All officers are trained and certified on the medphone triage process and systems
