Cyber Attack on Google, Facilitated by Google China Employees?

Google is investigating whether one or more employees may have helped facilitate a sophisticated cyber-attack from China that resulted in theft of its intellectual property. Chinese local media reports that some Google China employees were denied access to internal networks after Jan 13, while some staff were put on leave and others transferred to different offices in Google’s Asia Pacific operations. Google has denied rumours that it has already decided to shut down its China offices. Google is going to have talks with the Chinese government, before making any final decision on the matter. Haiti SMS Donation Program Raises $11 Million in the US

Mobile phone users in the US have contributed more than $11 million to Haiti Earthquake Relief through SMS donaiton. The Mobile Giving Foundation received up to 10,000 text messages per second. The foundation said more than $11 million has been donated through various text message donation programs. The American Red Cross said it has received more than $9 million in donations from more than 900,000 mobile phone users. Yele Haiti fund had raised $2 million via text messages. Mobile providers have waived fees for customers wishing to send mobile donations. Read full story »

Internet Explorer Flaw Exploited for Cyber Attack on Google

McAfee said that, the recent cyber attacks on Google and 20 other businesses in the US exploited a previously unknown flaw in Internet Explorer browser.All recent versions of Internet Explorer for the Windows operating system, including Windows 7, are vulnerable. Using Internet Explorer in “protected mode” with security settings at “high” would limit the impact of the vulnerability. Read full story »

Google.cn may Shutdown, Issue Over Cyber Threat and Internet Freedom

In a recent blog post titled A new approach to China, Google announced that, Google may shut down their Chinese search engine Google.cn and close down their operations in China. This decision was taken in the wake of the recent cyber attacks on Google and a few other organizations, to get information from Gmail accounts of Chinese human rights activists. The attacks were originated from China. In mid-December Google faced highly sophisticated and targeted cyber attacks on their corporate infrastructure originating from China that resulted in the theft of intellectual property from Google. The service can be accessed using the vFlash USB Modem priced at Rs 3,499 and offers a storage space of 8GB with surfing speed of up to 3.1 Mbps. The tariff options ranges from Rs 250 to Rs 1,100 per month. The vFlash comes bundled with various features such as vFlash TV, and on-demand download services. The vFlash TV feature is a Live TV service that gives access to 40 popular television channels to the users. iPhone 4G to Korean Market in April

Korea Times reports that Korea Telecom KT plans to introduce an upgraded version of Apple iPhone, the iPhone 4G, to Korean market in April 2010. The new 4G iPhone will be equipped with OLED screen, live video chat, removable battery, dual core processor and powerful graphic chips and an additional camera for video calls support.
