BSNL Mobile Money Transfer Services Coming Soon

BSNL plans to launch a mobile banking platform which will help mobile subscribers to send money orders electronically through SMS. The SMS by the sender will be encashable at all post offices. In order to send money, go to the nearest post office and transfer the money by way of an SMS. The SMS will contain a unique code. The person who receives this SMS real time, can go to his nearest post office and collect the money by showing the code. Mobile Number Portability (MNP) in Chennai & Bangalore from May

Amazon Kindle Now On BlackBerry Too

Amazon launched its Kindle application for the BlackBerry devices. Kindle For BlackBerry app enables users of the Blackberry smartphone to read digital books purchased from Amazon and synchronize bookmarks with the Kindle electronic reader and other supported devices. Apart from the Amazon Kindle e-Book Reader device, currently it is available in Apple’s iPhone and iPod Touch with a Kindle app and also on Windows PCs. Google Buzz to Have Stand-Alone Version Soon

Google may create a stand-alone version of Google Buzz social networking tool and will continue to keep Buzz in Gmail too. Buzz is a Facebook + Friendfeed like service launched earlier this week. Bloggers and social media experts have raised privacy concerns on the Buzz contact network being publicly viewable by default which could could expose people’s private contacts. To overcome these concerns Google announced a couple of changes including making it easier for Buzz users to keep their contacts list private and option to select followers from the recommended list. Facebook Chat Available from Any Jabber IM Client

Facebook announced that Facebook Chat is now available on Jabber (XMPP) clients – which means you can chat with your Facebook friends from any of your favorite desktop instant messaging client including iChat, Pidgin, Adium, Miranda and more. Jabber (XMPP) is an open messaging protocol supported by most instant messaging software and Facebook is now using the Jabber technology to make Facebook Chat available everywhere. Read full story »

Google to Offer Ultrafast (1Gbps) Consumer Broadband in the US

In an effort to offer improved access to the Internet, Google plans to create fast, cheap and ubiquitous fiber-to-the-home Internet broadband networks with one-gigabit-per-second (1Gbps) speed. The broadband connections will be as much as 100 times faster than most cable and DSL services. Google hopes to offer the service to at least 50,000 people and as many as 500,000. It will announce which communities will get the service later this year. Google said it will sell access to customers directly “at a competitive price” and team with telecommunications companies that want to package services with its fiber network. Read full story »
